Historical Notes
The inscription “Jägers Abschied” translates to “Hunter’s Farewell,” a popular 19th-century German hunting song and cultural motif. It was frequently used in artwork and traditional stein designs to symbolize departure and nostalgia.
This stein was manufactured by Zöller & Born, a respected family-run company founded in 1956 in Höhr-Grenzhausen, located in the Westerwald region of Germany—a center of fine stoneware production since the 14th century. Steins marked “Western Germany” were produced between 1949 and 1990, during the Cold War era, for export.
